Project Management Fundamentals (16 CPD Hours)


In today’s fast-paced and ever-changing business environment, effective project management is crucial for achieving organisational goals and delivering value. By mastering the fundamentals of project management, you will be able to lead teams, manage resources, and deliver projects to achieve maximum business and customer value whilst managing time, scope, and budget effectively.

This course is designed to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills needed to successfully manage projects in any industry.

Over the course of four interactive online sessions, you will gain a solid foundation in the key aspects of project management, aligned with PMI and globally recognised principles and practices.

A case study will be used throughout the course to guide the participants through a practical application of Project Management skills and techniques.

The course typically runs as 4 virtual sessions of 4 hours, however, the December intake will run as 3 sessions of 5.5 hours.

Course Presenter – Julie Wilson

Julie is our resident Business Analysis Master, Modern Ways of Working (Agile) expert and business coach.
She has extensive experience as an Agile Project Manager, Agile Coach and Traditional Project Manager with particular ERP experience in the Payroll/Time Management arena. 
 
Julie is IC Agile Accredited holds a CPA (IT Specialist Designation) and is Prince 2 and PMBOK experienced. She holds advanced certifications in Agile Initiation, Agile Delivery, Agile Product Management, Agile Project Management, SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprise) Leadership and SAFe Scrum.
In her spare time, Julie is a karate enthusiast currently holding a second Dan in Shotokan Karate and she presently holds a number of state and regional titles and an Australian Open title in veterans kata. Her joy is working as an instructor, supporting others to attain their black belt.

Project Management Principles

Explore the core concepts, methodologies, and tools that form the backbone of project management. Review the project life cycle and the roles and responsibilities within a project team.

Project Initiation and Planning

Learn how to kick off a project successfully by understanding the problem we are trying to solve, defining the value to be delivered and making choices about the solution that will deliver this value. In addition, we will determine the Project approach considering if traditional (waterfall) or modern ways of working (agile) are the most appropriate to achieve the required outcomes.

We will review defining Project scope, setting objectives and outcomes, and developing an appropriate project plan. 

This session includes engaging and managing stakeholders, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.

Project Leadership 

Introduction to the key skills required to develop effective teams and stakeholders.

Project Execution and Monitoring

Discover how to lead a project team, manage quality, and keep the project on track through effective monitoring and controlling techniques. We’ll also introduce key performance indicators and change management processes in both traditional and modern ways of working.

Project Closure

Learn the processes involved in closing a project and ensuring a smooth handover.

Pre-requisites

  • Participants must have access to a laptop/computer and the internet for the duration of this course. Additionally, a basic understanding of organisational processes and project management concepts is beneficial.
